Take ownership of the beautiful and well balanced e-commerce website of a premium consumer electronics brand
This Found UX client designs and sells sleek, high-end consumer electronics. The company is currently performing very well and is growing rapidly.
The high-quality website serves as the brand's marketing and sales platform: it is where people explore products, compare variants, and make their purchases.
Until now, the lead designer has been responsible for the platform's design, covering everything from UX and UI to the underlying design system.
As company developments now require their focus to shift toward the design of the software running on the devices, they are looking for a visually strong senior product designer with e-commerce experience to take ownership of the website and the design system.
Platform design: UX and UI
You will take ownership of our high-end website and design system. You are responsible for both the strategy and execution: from research and conceptualization to the development of high-quality landing pages, flows, and features. You will maintain the clear user experience and visual quality expected of a brand that is consistently praised for its ability to balance the two.
Checkout and conversion
You will optimize the checkout flow: identifying where users drop off or hesitate, and making the journey from product page to purchase as seamless as possible. In addition to customer satisfaction (CSAT), the client focuses on conversion rates and sales volume.
Design system: design and technology
This company uses a custom-built design system that links design directly to code. You will become a co-owner of its ongoing development: adding components, refining existing patterns, and ensuring the system evolves with new tooling trends, while maintaining a critical eye on the practical applications of AI.
Campaigns and creative direction
For campaigns and promotions, the company works with external agencies for photography and video. You will be involved in writing creative briefs, setting the direction, and ensuring the final output aligns with the platform and brand identity.
Mentoring a junior designer
You will be the primary point of contact for the junior designer on the team. You will delegate tasks, guide their professional development, and oversee the quality of their work to ensure their growth benefits the platform.
You will be joining the web team. Alongside you, this team consists of a talented junior designer and a UX researcher. You will report to the lead designer, who is responsible for both the website and the interface design for the devices themselves.
The broader e-commerce team includes 2 product owners, a web analyst, an implementation manager, and about 6 developers.
Everyone works from the Amsterdam office at least 2 days a week.
This brand is known for pushing the boundaries of both functionality and design. You can see this in their products, but it is just as evident in the design of their website and design system.
Every detail counts. They strive for the absolute best in terms of visuals, user experience, and conversion, aiming for the ultimate balance. You will be working alongside a lead designer who is just as critical and detail-oriented as you are.
You will take ownership of a system that is documented primarily in code rather than Figma. The lead designer built this himself, based on his own vision of how design and development should relate to one another.
Few roles offer you the opportunity to shape both the design and its technical translation. The lead designer notes that you don't need extensive technical experience, but you must have the willingness to develop your skills in this area. He is available to mentor you throughout this process.
You will have a great deal of freedom here, both in terms of content and in shaping the backlog. While you will report to the lead designer and build upon his legacy, you will work more alongside him than under him. He's entrusting you with the platform while shifting his own focus to the software running on the devices.
At the same time, you will mentor the junior designer on the web team. This combination of freedom and ownership makes this an excellent role to (further) develop your leadership skills.
